ABOUT

Jimmy Reed was an Mississippi-born blues legend notable for bringing his distinctive style of blues to mainstream audiences. Reed was a major player in the field of electric blues, as opposed to the more acoustic-based sound of many of his contemporaries.

Reed signed with Vee-Jay Records in the 1950s and released a long string of hits.
When Vee-Jay Records closed its doors, Reed signed a contract with the fledgling ABC-Bluesway label, but Reed was never able to score the hits that he had at Vee-jay. Jimmy Reed died in 1976 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
